#FENCE#BALUSTER#SeiShonagon 2017 250 x 300 x 60 (installation, dimensions vary) Wood, steel, kimono (Obi) silk (Maruroku Co.)
The sculpture series “#BALUSTER” was a way of introducing sculpture as a parametrical monument, mostly sedentary and largly self-referential. This led me to an inquiry into the formal qualities of the “#BALUSTER” series. Based on formal properties of the totem on wich they are inspired they shift and sort out proces-oriented research like technical construction, material options and formal decisions into an arsenal of objects. Large scale installations, drawing on the idea of a fence dislocated shapes from the totems onto a more open, dynamic structure.
